Astrology
Astrology is way to “understand the basic ‘cosmic’ relationship to the universe-as-a-whole”. This is how famous astrologer Dane Rudhyar described Astrology. Essentially he considered astrology is an archetype of the unconscious, which can help us in the process of individuation and the understanding of our unique relationship to reality and the world around us.
My journey into astrology started at a young age. After getting into a relationship in my mid-20’s someone suggested that I take a look at my astrological chart. This opened up a whole new world to me. I was amazed how the astrologer was able to explain to me things she could not possibly have known about my personality, my attitudes, and my emotional tendencies with a degree of accuracy. It felt almost magical. To my surprise I began to feel validated for who I was. This eventually lead to greater self-acceptance as I started to understand my archetypal rule-set or my nature. What I did not realize at the time was that astrology started me on a path of self-discovery, which has continued to this day. In fact, I can now say that Astrology for me has become a Path to Transformation.
Then something happened that made astrology very real for me. I was in a major crisis and I went back to the astrologer again. My relationship was failing and I had become very ill. It was at this point that I saw the value of astrology. It helped make sense of my reality. I learned how I was in a cycle which had a particular ‘intention’ and ‘purpose’ to it. This made the events I as going through a bit easier to understand and gave me some tools to work with. I hindsight I realized I was going through a process. It was not about when the transit would end. With this awareness also came a deeper understanding that the real value of astrology was not in the predicting of events, but in fact, it was archetypically predictive helping us better understand the various patterns and cycles that are occurring at any given moment in our lives.
The other thing I discovered was that just reading a few books was not enough when I started to fully understand the breath and depth of astrology. I knew I needed a teacher who could guide me in my understandings. My first teach said it was a lifetime study and 16 years later I would have to agree with her. I was fortunate enough to find the Sher Astrological Institute. I am a graduate of the Institute and have been applying astrological knowledge for the past 15 years.
After graduating from Emperor’s College of Traditional Oriental Medicine I also realized that I could apply what I had understood about the body astrologically. This is a branch of Astrology called “Medical Astrology.” Over time it became clear to me that various tendencies toward certain health conditions could be seen in the astrological chart thus helping a person better become aware of their bodies inherent strengths and weaknesses.
So now in my practice I do both basic astrological consultations as well as medical astrological consultations.
